Unlocking Our Next Chapter: The Story Behind McKee Media's Brand Refresh

If you’ve been following along on our journey, you know McKee Media started with a simple idea: one woman, one laptop, and a belief in the power of storytelling and community. When I first launched this business, it was just me, Brystal McKee, helping small businesses navigate the ever-changing world of social media. The brand I created back then was intentionally personal, feminine, and a little scrappy. It matched the energy I had at the time: eager, passionate, and just getting started.
But businesses grow. So do people. And in this case, so did our team.
As my husband, Chris McKee, joined the business and began leading our content creation arm, photography, video, and drone work and we realized our brand needed to evolve too. What started as a personal brand now had to represent two creative professionals, different specialties, and a growing vision for what McKee Media could become.
So we called in the expert: Sabrina at Sabrina Graphic Design and Production.
We sat down with her to share our story, our goals, and where we see McKee Media heading. She listened closely, asked the right questions, and started crafting a brand that would do more than just look good. She built something that told our story.
The key has always held special meaning for us. We started seeing it everywhere on our honeymoon, and when our son was learning to say our last name, he’d pronounce it “Mc Key.” Over time, it became more than just a symbol, it came to represent our family, our journey, and our future. For us, the key stands for unlocking potential and being the key to our own success.
Sabrina didn’t just design around that concept, she leaned into it. The new McKee Media logo honors our name and personal story while visually representing the possibilities we help clients unlock through platform strategy, content storytelling, and compelling visuals.
From there, she expanded the brand with a thoughtful, gender-neutral aesthetic that reflects both sides of our business. Our new color palette still highlights our favorite dark blue, but now also includes pops of color that nod to the social platforms we work with every day. It’s a subtle yet powerful way to connect the dots between who we are, what we do, and where we’re going.
One of my favorite details? The icon system she created. Each key has a unique social media-inspired symbol, allowing us to represent different services visually. Whether it’s strategy-, creative-, or community-focused, we have a way to showcase it.
This rebrand is the foundation for our next chapter, one that includes growing our team, expanding our services, and continuing to tell meaningful stories for our clients.
